Live On...
David Hockney was born in Bradford, England, in 1937, he attended art school in London before moving to LA in the 1960s. In the 1970s Hockney began working in photography and created photo collages. He was a painter, printmaking, and photography. Hockney now live in LA after his return to England and remains there since 2013. Hockney was inspired by Wallace Stevens because of the various colors that he incorporates into his pictures.
The first picture that I did of Letty was framing because because of the grass below and the flowers above to frame her emotion in the show and the vibrancy of the flower brings out the emotion in her face. The second set of photos I took was leasing line because of the branches. I thought that the branch leading up to the leaves and then to the sky was interesting and colorful. To create these picture i uses small pieces of a space to make a bigger picture. I did this in photoshop by adjusting the scale of the picture and holding down shift to prevent the picture from getting distorted.

The magazine I chose was "Sports Illustrated" because sports used to be a big part of my life and by incorporating myself into the magazine with a water background made it easier to come up with slogans because of yearbook and inside jokes while I was in swim and water polo. Also I chose this magazine because it seemed like a pretty simple topic to express and I knew that being in sports would help with my creative ideas. I personalized the magazine especially with the pool background to make it brighter and make it obvious that it was about swimming. I chose a swimming topic over a water polo topic because swim is more of a n individual sport and I couldn't get any of my team mates in the picture so I just used swim instead of polo. Also swim seems to be more known that water polo is so swim was easier to understand and relate to for those who don't competitively swim.
My Magazine had a couple of layers because i had to add the title from off line which made a layer. Also I did a cutout of myself so that I could change the background which made it more colorful. Some of the utilities that i used was a strobe light which is the light that provides more light for the image. Another light is the modeling light witch gives off light in the shadows. Then there is the soft box which directs the light to one area. During this project we used various tools but they weren't all lights. We also used reflectors much like what we used in previous project to give the image warmth or give it light where its darker. The reflector can be use for multiple things because it has 4 different sides which includes the other side of the reflector sheet. Then there is a grey card that allows the photographer to see if the picture needs to be brighter or not. Then there is the Radio trigger system which is what you use to take the picture and make it easier to take pictures. Dominate or Drown
This highly detailed photograph was taken at the Wave water park right after an RBV water polo game. The camera that was used was a Nikon and I used photoshop to adjust the black and white to make it perfect for the picture. The emotion in this picture when it was in color was strong but by changing it into a black and white it gave it character and defined the detail of the water dripping down. I chose to put this picture in the sports section because it catches the true emotion of how a player looks when they are truly satisfied with their efforts and have truly won. This photo has a variety of composition rules but the one most used is the framing, this is because of the blur that is surrounding the main focus of a young man who after a long game is proud of the hard work and dedication he has put into this season. The past three years he has been a part of a team that is focussed on one goal… to win. Jacob Barr and his well devoted team have been pushed to their limit in and outside the pool to push themselves to do well. This team has faced many challenges but at the end of the day a group of boys have become a band of brothers and remember what's important is to have fun. The bond between Jacob and his teammates have been tested but with hours of practice and years of training they have learned to win together … lose together… and work together as a family. |
